A quote calculator finds a defensible number. Estimating software sends a written scope, captures approval, turns the accepted work into an invoice, and helps you collect. These are different jobs.

Start with the workflow you need
Just send and collect
Compare Zoho Invoice, Wave, or Square before paying for a full job-management system.
Quote from the field
Consider Joist for a focused trade workflow; look at Jobber when scheduling and crew operations matter too.
Track client-project time
Consider FreshBooks when billable time and expenses need to sit beside estimates and invoices.
Six options, with the catch visible
These are fit guides based on providers’ published features and pricing pages. We have not tested the software in a live business. No product has an overall rank.
Zoho Invoice
Free invoicing product; payment processing may cost extra
Consider if: Simple quotes and invoices on a $0 software budget.
What it covers: Quotes, invoices, reminders, expenses, time tracking, and a client portal are listed in the free product.
Check before paying: Confirm that its workflow and any payment integration fit your business; a free invoice tool is not a field-crew scheduler or a substitute for setting the right price.
Consider if: Basic estimates plus bookkeeping in one place.
What it covers: Starter includes unlimited estimates, invoices, bills, and bookkeeping records; estimates can become invoices.
Check before paying: Bank imports, automated reminders, and some convenience features sit in Pro. Compare total cost after payment fees, not the subscription alone.
Free plan plus processing fees; paid plan features
Consider if: Estimates tied to payments or an existing Square setup.
What it covers: Send estimates for client approval, turn accepted work into invoices, and collect payments from the same workflow.
Check before paying: Check which estimate automation, milestones, and contract features your plan includes. A free subscription does not mean free card processing.
Consider if: A solo trade contractor sending quotes from the jobsite.
What it covers: Contractor-focused estimates convert to invoices, with online payments and mobile access.
Check before paying: The entry Basics plan limits documents per month; higher plans carry unlimited documents, change orders, or scheduling. There is no permanent free plan.
Paid subscription after trial; payment and add-on fees may apply
Consider if: Client projects that also need time and expense tracking.
What it covers: Estimates, invoicing, expenses, and project time live in a broader client-accounting workflow.
Check before paying: The Lite plan can invoice only five clients; promotional prices change. Check the regular price, client cap, and paid add-ons before committing.
Paid plans and trials; price varies by features and seats
Consider if: A home-service business managing jobs and crews.
What it covers: Links quotes, client approval, scheduling, invoices, and payment in a field-service workflow.
Check before paying: A basic quote-and-invoice need may not justify a full operations system. Automation, job costing, and team access vary by plan; compare the plan you will actually need as staff grows.
We included U.S. products with a published path from estimate to invoice, then covered distinct owner needs: a free invoice workflow, payments, client-project work, solo contracting, and managing a field team. The providers’ own pricing and feature pages are linked in each entry. “Consider if” and “check before paying” are OwnerClarify editorial judgments, not claims of hands-on testing or verified customer outcomes.
Plans, promotions, payment fees, limits, and integrations can change. Open the provider’s current terms and test a real sample estimate before moving customer records. This comparison is reviewed periodically, with material changes dated here.
No provider paid for inclusion and none of these links are affiliate links. If that changes, the affected recommendation will carry a clear disclosure next to it.
